It’s true that many prelates and priests don’t often teach the principles of marriage, family, and children that Humanae Vitae so beautifully illuminates. While we should encourage them to do more, how much emphasis to place on the encyclical is ultimately a prudential decision.
However, when a prelate – especially a senior Vatican cardinal – denies fundamental Catholic teaching on sexual morality, it is our duty to call him out. Here, Fr. Gerald Murray, a canon lawyer and priest of the Archdiocese of New York, does so.
Pray for those misled by the secular culture’s denial of the truths of God’s creation – “Male and Female He created them” (Genesis 5:2).
