Doctrinal Note on the Moral Limits to Technological Manipulation of the Human Body

In August 2021, we welcomed the appearance of “A Catechesis on the Human Person and Gender Ideology” promulgated by Arlington Bishop Michael Burbidge. The document, offers a welcome voice of clarity and truth that addresses the Culture of Death’s efforts to redefine both reality and morality regarding God’s creation of man, “male and female He created them” (Genesis 5:2).

Today we can also recommend a new document from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. It addresses specifically the errors contained in what Pope Francis has called an ideology that promotes “a personal identity and emotional intimacy radically separated from the biological difference between male and female.”

Those errors have infected the fields of modern science and medicine. When they are put into practice, the harm they cause mutilates the human body and perverts the human psyche in the name of “transsexuality” and “gender identity.” The impact of these errors on society, the culture, and the family is almost unfathomably profound.

These two documents offer a solid foundation for both understanding and computing the ongoing cultural war against the human person and God’s creation, all in the name of “humanity.”
